چکیده

To study non-durable import demand, we extend previous work done by Clarida (1994) and Ceglowski (1991) by considering a two-good version of the life cycle model in which we introduce time-nonseparability in the households' preferences. The model is estimated using quarterly data for US and France. Using the information contained in the observed stochastic and deterministic trends, we derive a cointegration restriction used to estimate curvature parameters of the instantaneous utility function. The remaining parameters are estimated in a second step by GMM. The constancy of the di erent parameters is investigated, both in the long and the short-run. Habit formation turns out to be an important factor of import demand. Investigation on Habit Formation, Risk Aversion and Intertemporal Substitution in Consumption of Iranian Households by GMM Approach

Consumption is the principal feature of Iran’s Gross National Production. Therefore, recognizing of factors that influence it is quite crucial. This article, investigates habit formation, durability, relative risk aversion and intertemporal substitution in consumption expenditures of Iranian households. For empirical study, at first, we constructed two weighted portfolio of the main assets re...

Elasticity of Intertemporal Substitution: An Investigation in Iran

We[1] present estimates of the Elasticity of Intertemporal Substitution (EIS) for Iranian households using synthetic cohort panels based on household micro-data. Results show significant difference with the common values used in Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) models which are originally based on estimated values for developed countries. We show that this difference has important ...

An Investigation of the Composition of Iran's Import Demand: Capital, Intermediate and Consumer Goods during 1978-2004

The objective of this study has been to develop a typical specification of the Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) for Iran’s composition of imports including capital, intermediate and consumer goods. Accordingly, we first test the hypotheses that import demand is homothetic, homogeneous, symmetric, and depends on domestic prices. Then, we estimate the long-run elasticities of the composition o...

The Growth Pattern of Iran's Economy in the First Five Year Development Plan (1989- 1994)

The effective factors on the economic growth of Iran during the first 5-year development plan are studied. The main characteristics of this period are that the first development plan began after the end of war during which some of the unused capacities of the war period were utilized. While the budget deficit was continued in this period the government also pursued policies such as devaluation ...

Optimal capital taxation for time-nonseparable preferences

Fundamental to any theory of capital taxation is a description of individual savings behavior. Successful descriptions of savings behavior have often resorted to the habit formation hypothesis. This paper studies the effect of habit formation on optimal capital taxes in a dynamic Mirrleesian model. We make three distinct contributions. First, we decompose intertemporal wedges (implicit capital ...
